With her genetic flair for winemaking and his obsession with geopolitics, winemaker Bec Hardy and husband Richard Dolan have proved themselves perfectly positioned to counter Beijing’s war on the Australian wine industry.

Exactly two years ago, Hardy – the great-great-great-granddaughter of Thomas Hardy – bought the Pertaringa brand in McLaren Vale from her father Geoff, becoming the first woman in the Hardy family to own vineyards and produce her own wine.
