Pertaringa Lakeside Chardonnay 2024
Region: Adelaide
Story: Sourced from premium South Australian regions, this Chardonnay is picked early to retain acidity and time in old oak adds complexity to the wine.
Vineyard: This wine is sourced from the Lower Tintara Vineyard in Blewitt
Springs. This vineyard was originally planted by Thomas Hardy in the 1880’s and
is now owned by John and Helen Hardy.
Soils: Deep sandy soils from the Holocene era (11,600yrs old).
Harvest Date: 14 February 2024
Winemaking: The grapes were harvested at night to retain fruit freshness.
Grapes were destemmed and pressed immediately. Juice was then transferred
directly to seasoned French oak barrels for fermentation followed by partial
malolactic fermentation for added complexity. The wine remained in barrel for 3 months before bottling.
Nose: The nose has a hint lifted stonefruit and melon.
Palate: The palate is a lovely balance of rich, creamy white peach fruit and fresh citrus acid. Subtle brioche notes from the oak influence complement the mid palate with a crisp, dry finish.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2028

92 Points - Wine Pilot, 2024 The vineyard, the Lower Tintara Vineyard in Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale, which supplies grapes for this wine was originally planted by Thomas Hardy back in the 1880s. Fermentation was in older French oak followed by a further three months maturation.
A gleaming yellow with shades of green, the nose gives us notes of peaches, stonefruits, figs and dried herbs. A subtle, well-crafted style with focus and direction and an appealing texture. There is a hint of nuts on the finish. Good length here. This is a wine which should provide pleasure for the next five years.
