Museum | Pertaringa Undercover Shiraz 2020
Vintage: The start of the 2020 growing season was dry with warmer than average temperatures. Heat and wind during flowering led to lower fruit set and subsequently lower yields at harvest. The temperatures became milder from late January, allowing the vines to recover and helping maintain acidity. Although crops were down considerably this vintage, they quality has been fantastic.
Story: The Undercover Shiraz is named in recognition of McLaren Vale’s history of supplying other regions with our finest red grapes. Known as the mid palate of Australia, McLaren Vale fruit is well regarded for its ability to improve the quality and richness of wines from other regions.
Nose: This Shiraz offers aromas of plush dark fruits including black plums, black cherries, blackcurrant and liquorice with Asian spices and a subtle hint of mint.
Palate: Behind the black fruits on the elegant palate are notes of cinnamon, vanilla and raspberry. This wine has soft velvety tannins, which provide a long finish
Cellaring: Drink now to 2028

"This is a serious contender for best value wine of the year. Stunning stuff and criminally underpriced. Vibrant purple in colour, this is inky, and dense, and full of chocolate notes and all a bit thrilling, There is a plushness here, with cassis, dark chocolate, blackberries, leather and cloves.
Serious concentration, lusciousness and great length, this is powerful but balanced and focused with attractive silky tannins here. Love this - a gorgeous wine."
