Soils: This vineyard is on deep sandy soils that were once sand dunes, likely from Maslin Sands and Pirramimma Sandstone. The deep sand is over yellow clay, which allows vine roots to travel down deep looking for water. These soils are from the Holocene period (11,700 years old).

Harvest Date: 19 February 2024

Winemaking: After harvesting at night the grapes were quickly pressed off skins at the winery.  Fermentation in both stainless steel tanks and new and seasoned French oak hogheads.  100% barrel maturation for 5 months on light lees with regular lees stirring for complexity.  Partial malo-lactic fermentation. Barrel select blending before clarification and bottling.

Nose: The nose offers aromas of lemon rind, lychee and white pear blossoms with toasty almond notes to finish.

Palate: The palate is lively with zesty notes of lime, green apple, green mango and a well-rounded mouthfeel from time spent in oak.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2028

94 points - Wine Orbit, 2024
Beautifully styled and elegantly expressed, the inviting bouquet shows apricot, lemon peel, nougat and oatmeal characters, leading to a finely textured palate offering creamy mouthfeel, backed by finely pitched acidity, finishing refined and persistent. At its best: now to 2032.

92 Points - Wine Pilot 2025
BSR refers to Blewitt Springs Road in McLaren Vale, the home of the vineyards for this fine, full-flavoured style of Chardonnay. The vineyard was planted by Geoff Hardy in 1993. More specifically, Block 6 is part of Lot 94, and tops a hill. Fermentation was in a mix of stainless steel tanks and new and older French oak hogsheads. Maturation was over a five month period. The final wine was a selection from the best barrels. Lemon straw in colour, the nose reveals notes of citrus, pears and florals with hazelnuts, grapefruits and a minerally backing. Bold flavours here, finishing with a hint of honeycomb. A refreshing style, there is bright acidity, good balance and a lingering finish. A wine which will surely be a crowd pleaser. Enjoy this over the next four to six years.
