Bec Hardy Riesling 2024
Region: Clare Valley
Story: Clare Valley Riesling has always been a favourite wine of Bec's and this one ticks all the boxes - clean, fresh and vibrant.
Vineyard: This Riesling is sourced from 2 vineyards in the Clare Valley wine region, one on Schobers Road west of Auburn and the other at a higher altitude on Bryksys Hill Road at Watervale.
Soils: Both vineyards have red loam over shale soils with lines of slate through the block.
Winemaking: Parcels were night harvested to retain freshness and gently pressed once at the winery. Cool fermentation in stainless steel was followed by prompt blending and bottling to ensure purity of fruit and optimum freshness.
Nose: Zesty citrus pith and orange blossom nose.
Palate: The palate is tight and fresh with excellent length of flavour. The Watervale parcel of the blend offers delicate bath salt and lemon rind flavours while the Aurburn component contributes depth of citrus flavour on the mid palate and excellent acid line.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2030

"A pale straw colour, the wine is gently fragrant with notes of lemons, florals and spices with a wet stone backing. It is soft and yet focused with a fine line of chalky acidity. A very attractive Riesling with a lingering finish, this will drink well for at least the next six years."
90 points - James Suckling, 2024
"A succulent, mellow and comforting Riesling, showing notes of spiced apples, warm herbs and some peaches too. Medium-bodied with a seductive character on the palate and a a mouthwatering finish."
