Bec Hardy Fiano 2025
Region: McLaren Vale
Vineyard: This Fiano was grown at the Lower Tintara vineyard on Kays Road, McLaren Vale. This vineyard was originally planted by my great-great-great-grandfather Thomas Hardy in the 1880’s and is now owned by 5th Generation Hardy, John, and his wife Helen.
Soils: The Lower Tintara vineyard is on sandy loam soils called Maslin Sands, deposited here during the Eocene epoch between 34 and 56 million years ago, they are some of the oldest soils in McLaren Vale.
Harvest: 19 February 2025
Winemaking: This small parcel of 2.2 tonnes was harvested at night to keep cool before it arrived at the winery. Grapes pressed directly to barrel for slow cool fermentation. Barrel aged on lees for 3 months to add complexity.
Nose: Citrus blossom and fruit characters including honeydew and peach on the nose.
Palate: These blossom and fruit characters follow onto the palate, where time on lees in French oak barrels adds wonderful mouthfeel and complexity, beautifully complemented by the wine’s vibrant acidity
Cellaring: Drink now to 2028
