Bec Hardy Family Crest Shiraz 2022
Region: South Australia
Story: Bec is a 6th generation member of and the first female vigneron from one of Australia’s oldest wine families, the Hardys. The Hardy name has been synonymous with South Australian wine since the 1850s and Bec Hardy continues that tradition, building on the experience and reputation of her predecessors. Bec’s family has been tending vineyards in South Australia since her great-great-great grandfather, Thomas Hardy, arrived from the UK in 1850. Thomas is widely regarded as the father of the South Australian wine industry.
Winemaking: Crushed and destemmed. Static stainless steel fermenter. The grapes spent 9 days on skins. 100% Seasoned French Oak Hogsheads for 8 months.
Nose: The nose displays notes of plums, pepper and a hint of dark cherries.
Palate: The palate is elegant with great flavours of plums, cherries and black pepper, finishing delightfully smooth and lingering.

'A deep purple, magenta colour here, this is powerfully aromatic. This is a concentrated and slightly earthy style of Shiraz. Big and bold with black fruit notes, chocolate, bay leaves and beefstock. As we move to the palate, the flavours of sweet mocha, coffee beans and dark chocolate move to the fore. There is good focus and intensity and the wine offers firm tannins with good length. It is one for enjoying now and for the next eight years. Really good value, especially if you enjoy the bigger, bolder and more burly style of Shiraz.'
