Bec Hardy Chardonnay 2025
Region: McLaren Vale
Story: Sourced from premium South Australian regions, this Chardonnay is picked early to retain acidity and time in old oak adds complexity to the wine.
Vineyard: This wine is sourced from the Lower Tintara Vineyard on Kays Rd. This vineyard was originally planted by Thomas Hardy in the 1880’s and is now owned by John and Helen Hardy.
Soils: Deep sandy soils from the Holocene era (11,600yrs old).
Harvest Date: 23 January 2025
Winemaking: The grapes were harvested at night to retain fruit freshness.
Grapes were destemmed and pressed immediately. Juice was then transferred
directly to seasoned French oak barrels for fermentation followed by partial
malolactic fermentation for added complexity. The wine remained in barrel for 5 months before bottling.
Nose: The nose has a hint lifted stonefruit and melon.
Palate: The palate is a lovely balance of rich, creamy white peach fruit and fresh citrus acid. Subtle brioche notes from the oak influence complement the mid palate with a crisp, dry finish.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2029
