Pertaringa 'Heritage Series' Reserve Shiraz 2022
Region: McLaren Vale
Story: Pertaringa was founded by Bec's father, Geoff Hardy, in 1980. There have been a number of iterations of the Pertaringa label over the years, so as the Pertaringa brand reaches 45 years of age, we decided to re-release one of our original Heritage labels.
Winemaking: Small batch open fermenters, 20 months in new and aged French oak.
Nose: The nose offers complex and concentrated aromas of plums, and other dark fruits including mulberries dried herbs and hints of mint.
Palate: The palate is dark and dense with black fruit, liquorice, tobacco notes and black ink. The seamless oak integration and beautiful palate weight is complemented by excellent length and plush tannins.
Cellaring: Drink now to 2036

96 Points - Wine Orbit, 2024
"This is immediately enticing on the nose, showing black and purple fruit richness, warm spice, toasty oak and vanilla aromas with a seductive floral overtone. The palate delivers outstanding concentration and depth, wonderfully enhances by velvety texture and beautifully melded tannins. Superbly composed and expressed with splendid structure and refinement."
95 Points - Wine Pilot, 2024
"Deep magenta. A rich nose, one can envisage smelling handfuls of warm earth from the region in this wine. Tobacco leaves, dark berries, licorice, leather. Good complexity and concentration, and the palate does take a step up. This is intense but so well balanced that it is almost deceptively lighter in appearance. Good line of acidity, this is obviously a finely crafted McLaren Vale Shiraz showing satiny tannins and superb length."
