Tipsy Hill Cabernet Sauvignon included in James Halliday’s Top 100 Wines

After James Halliday rated the Pertaringa Tipsy Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 an amazing 99 points in his 2021 Wine Companion, he also included this wine is his Top 100 Wines in The Australian newspaper this weekend, again rated 99 points.

According to James, the Reds over $30 category “was by far the strongest, the selection process the most difficult.”

The Tipsy Hill Cabernet Sauvignon is from Bec’s own vineyard in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale. One of only four wines rated 99 points, James wrote the following about the Tipsy Hill: “From Blewitt Springs, an easterly slope planted in ‘99. Open-fermented, 14 days on skins, pressed to barrel (50% new French hogsheads) on gross lees for 9 months, racked for the next 9 months. Marvellous wine, fluid, juicy and vibrant, with a very long finish, the tannins a gossamer web.”
