The Lot 94 BSR range is officially here!
It's been an incredible journey since we first acquired Lot 94 BSR Vineyard in McLaren Vale in July 2022. The vineyard is located at Lot 94 Blewitt Springs Road – hence the name, and when Richard and I first started looking at acquiring this vineyard we found out it was actually my Dad, Geoff Hardy, who had planted the vineyard for the previous owner – small world!!!
One of the highlights of our journey has been our collaboration with Biodiversity McLaren Vale. Together, we've planted over 1200 native plants along the boundaries of Lot 94, which will create a thriving ecosystem that supports local wildlife and enhances the natural beauty of our vineyard. We also have started the process of fencing off each of the blocks so we can run sheep in the vineyard over winter to help keep down the grasses and replace some nutrients back into the soil. We always love watching the sheep mowing under the vines and between the rows during this time of year.
A few weeks ago we harvested our third crop from the vineyard and this month we are thrilled to announce the official release of our wines from Lot 94 BSR. This range includes a Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine expresses the unique characteristics of this dry-grown vineyard, with it’s sandy soils and higher altitude (making it a cooler site in McLaren Vale).
Although the wines have only just been officially released, our 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon has already sold out with almost the entire vintage being purchased by Qantas. Starting in May, this exceptional wine will be served in Qantas Business Class, allowing travellers to experience a piece of McLaren Vale at 30,000 feet.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to producing wines that reflect the essence of Lot 94 BSR Vineyard. We invite you to join us on this journey, to taste our wines, and to share in the story of a vineyard that continues to grow and flourish.
Thank you for being a part of our community and for supporting our passion for winemaking.
Cheers to many more vintages to come!
Bec Hardy
