Spring update from the winery
We are busy blending most of our 2020 red wines in preparation for bottling over the next few months. This involves tasting each barrel before it is blended (sometimes over a hundred per day!) to ensure consistent quality in all our wines. Pertaringa Undercover Shiraz and Understudy Cabernet Sauvignon are the two biggest wine blends, but we have also been busy with other new wines such as the Bec Hardy Mourvèdre and Bec Hardy Shiraz Tempranillo blend.
The 2021 red wines are all maturing nicely in oak at the moment and developing into some stunning examples of McLaren Vale reds.
We’re also keeping an eye on spring growth in the vineyards as things develop – we’ve had great winter and spring rainfall so far, promising for a good growing season!
Cheers,
BHW winemaker, Bec Swincer
