Ultimate Girls Weekend in McLaren Vale
Ultimate girls’ weekend in McLaren Vale…
When you think of McLaren Vale you can’t help but think of the beautiful wineries, fabulous eateries and amazing views… you’re not wrong, it definitely is a place that’s pretty easy for pleasing everyone especially your best group of girlfriends…. So, lets raise a glass to friendship and discover the best wineries, places to eat and stay with your girl squad for a weekend away.
Getting around:
Make it easy for your group and book a driver in advance or use the Trail Hopper. This means that you can get on and off the bus as you choose and take your time with each spot and really make the most of your girly time.
Where to stay:
In terms of staying over we cannot recommend enough Karawatha Cottages, Self-contained cottages nestled between vineyards and gardens. This is a perfect spot for small groups, within walking distance of a handful of cellar doors and restaurants. It’s also sustainably driven, making for a guilt-free way to enjoy your girls weekend.
What to do:
A beautiful spot for lunch on Friday to get the weekend started would be at The Salopian Inn, quaint and unique, both the food and the place – you won’t be disappointed. Say hi to Karena Armstrong, one of our regions leading female chefs, who has worked her magic there for over 10 years. Then enjoy an afternoon wine at Olivers Taranga or/and Gemtree wineries. Like Bec Hardy Wines, these celebrate ‘women in wine’ with female owners and wine makers – girl power!
Start with a casual breakfast at Sam I Am, then take in an early cellar door at Never Never with a Ginache Gin to get the day started. The perfect girls day out isn’t compete without a luxe Premium Picnic, spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon indulging in a unique private picnic experience. Hosted at Tipsy Hill Estate, indulge in a picnic while you relax, sip on wine, and enjoy a yummy grazing table – the best setting for that group selfie!
After the delicious picnic a great spot for a wine is on a mint green double decker bus (yes, you heard me right) at Down The Rabbit Hole Wines or visit the beautiful Beach Road Wines for a glass with a breathtaking view.
Make it the perfect Sunday with delicious food at The Kitchen at Bec Hardy, it is set in a converted winemaking shed where a large oak vat still adorns the corner that makes for an elevated yet relaxed space. Produce is sourced locally and crafted into two feed me menus, The Short Story and The Long Story. The group organiser will definitely get a pat on the back for booking this one!
Then enjoy wine tasting at next door at Bec Hardy Cellar Door, open daily 10-4pm.
This is the perfect way to relax with friends and sip on some award-winning wines. There’s casual wine tastings inside the cellar door or outside with stunning views across the vineyards.
You could even travel further afield and visit The Little Rickshaw for a modern south-east Asian kitchen followed by a fun evening at Big Easy Radio for a night of music, wine and fun.
So, grab your friends and make this the best girls’ weekend ever with wine, food, friends and laughter in McLaren Vale.
