Digital Detox in McLaren Vale
While technology has changed our lives for the better in many ways, there’s no denying that we could all do with a break from time to time. With the average person using their smart phone for over 3 hours a day and watching TV for up to 4 hours, it’s safe to say most of us could benefit from a digital detox. Immersing yourself in nature is one of the best and easiest ways to allow yourself to switch off and reconnect. Known as much for its natural beauty as its incredible wines, we firmly believe McLaren Vale is one of the best places to get back to nature. Here’s a few ideas to keep you busy when you put down the devices:
- Cycle your way around the region: Pack your bikes or hire one from the great local bike hire operators. Explore this incredible wine region in the best way – on two wheels. Try the Coast to Vines Trail, offering spectacular cliff top scenery and views of the iconic rolling vines of McLaren Vale. For a shorter ride, or an extension of the Coast to Vines Trail, cycle along the Shiraz Trail. Drop into the world-famous cellar doors, restaurants and cafes as you meander through McLaren Vale on this dedicated shared pathway.
- Hike in the Onkaparinga River National Park: With a huge 17 walks on offer, all abilities are catered for in this natural wonderland. You’ll walk through lush bushland, along a meandering river and across amazing cliff tops.
- Visit the breath-taking beaches: One of the most unique aspects of McLaren Vale is the contrast between the amazing scenery of rolling vines and the beautiful beaches allowing visitors to get the best of both worlds. There’s plenty of ways to enjoy the seaside; take a dip or simply soak up the sun with a good book.
- Go wildlife spotting: The perfect family activity, don’t miss a day exploring and spotting some of the native wildlife that calls McLaren Vale home. You don’t need to go far either, we regularly see kangaroos, koalas and a plethora of native bird species right here at Pertaringa cellar door.
