Story: A testament to the co-founders of Pertaringa, Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask – true gentlemen showing depth and generosity of character, just like our GSM.
Vintage: The 2019 growing season started with mild weather and below average rainfall. Some late spring rain provided a bit of relief from the dry conditions. A heatwave in January was luckily too early in the ripening cycle to cause any damage to the fruit. This was followed by a very mild and dry finish to the vintage, allowing good hang time and flavour development to the smaller than average crop.
Nose: The nose offers elegant and attractive aromas of red berries and dried herbs with a touch of black olives.
Palate: The palate is young and vibrant with lots of red berries and plums, followed by a tight, lingering finish.
Food Pairings: Try with crispy pork belly with a black vinegar, pomegranate and star anise glaze served with wild rice, Asian mushrooms and Chinese broccoli.
Oak Maturation: 9 months in seasoned French oak hogsheads.
