Shiraz Tempranillo 2019
VINTAGE: The 2019 growing season started with mild weather and below-average rainfall. Some late spring rain provided a bit of relief from the dry conditions. A heatwave in January was luckily too early in the ripening cycle to cause any damage to the fruit. This was followed by a very mild and dry finish to the vintage, allowing good hang time and flavour development to the smaller than average crop.
STYLE: The Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale is not only perfect for growing Shiraz but is also very well suited to Spanish varieties like Tempranillo – so we thought we’d bring together the best of both worlds and blend them. The final blend is 70% Shiraz and 30% Tempranillo.
NOSE: Notes of dark plum and chocolate are complemented by complex, rich notes of tobacco, clove, and leather.
PALATE: The fruit and spice notes follow through to the complex palate, complemented by subtle tannins and a long finish.
CELLARING: Drink now to 2027 (VF)
