Bec’s top picks from www.WineShedSale.com.au

17Nov Bec’s top picks from www.WineShedSale.com.au

Spring is one of the times of year when we open up the virtual doors to the www.WineShedSale.com.au, topped off by a tasting weekend at the beginning of December.

Richard and I are often asked what our favourites from this sale are, so I thought I’d give you a few suggestions!

September through to November is a time of year when we’re doing lots of new bottlings ahead of our once-a-year export shipment to our Canadian distributor. My pick of the whites at the moment is the Bec Hardy Clare Valley Riesling 2021 – we’ve been taking home the open bottles at the end of the day at cellar door to enjoy and that can be a dangerous thing on a Wednesday! It’ll age for a few years too if you like aged Rieslings. Before we were getting stuck into the Riesling, the pick of the whites for me has been the Bec Hardy SA Pinot Gris 2021. The aromatics on this wine and the palate weight are just so attractive and it’s just a delight to drink, especially on warmer days!

If we’re looking for a mid-week, light red quaffer on a warm day while cooking dinner, we always turn to the Lakeside Pinot Noir 2021. A Pinot Noir at this price point that tastes like Pinot Noir is a rarity – one bottle can easily lead to a second with this wine!

You might find it surprising, but at home we don’t drink too much Shiraz. Richard did however open a bottle of the Regional Series McLaren Vale Shiraz 2019 last week for a single glass over dinner and, needless to say, he nearly finished the bottle. I guess you can work out that he enjoyed it – perhaps a bit too much!

Another red wine we have really been enjoying at home is the Export Label Mourvédre 2020. This wine is a little lighter than a Cabernet Sauvignon or Shiraz, with really good acidity. We knocked off a bottle of this on Saturday evening with a couple of Yearling scotch fillets on the bone from Ellis Butchers in McLaren Vale. This Mourvédre has almost sold out, so make sure you get in quick!

We’re often asked why we don’t publish the full name of the wine. The answer is quite simple: As good as these prices are, they can sometimes upset a distributor or importer so we have to be a little more discrete with the naming of the wines. This ensures that we keep everyone happy, you included, by delivering great value, premium wines at wholesale prices, direct to your door.

If you’d like to know more about these wines, feel free to drop us an email at hello@bechardy.com.au or reach out on LiveChat.

Enjoy!
